passing away. We would like to extend a special thanks to those of you who came
along to Paula's funeral on Friday 12th January and joined us in saying goodbye
to a mother, a friend and a companion.

      Obituary from her Sons...

Thank you for allowing us to say goodbye when you went. Its really  painful
for us, but whats important is that your suffering was cut short. We will
really miss you, our Mother, our Friend, our Bunny. You were full of life,
the lady in the pink jacket who cycled the streets. The best way to honour
your life, your courage, your fortitude, and loyalty is to take your lead and
live our lives to the full (because that is what you really wanted).

Goodbye Paula.., your sons Patrick, Richard, Jonathan

   Obituary from her son Richard

Pauli, you are my mother, friend and confidante. I will miss our conversations,
our music, our times at the beach. You had a lifetime of wisdom. I am who I am
because of you. With much love and respect, Richard.

   Obituary from Dionne Christian

..after a severe illness. Friend of Dionne and Anita. We will never forget all the good
times we had with you. Thank you for being such a fine companion ot our father
    David.

    Words from Hilary (Niece)

I was 17 when I last saw Paula. I do remember some happy times though and especially
having a lot of fun at picnics. When I think of Paula I think of fun and laughter. I can still
hear the laughter if I listen. That's how I remember her and delicious fruit cake and ballet.
I also remember how she loved cats.

    Tribute from Anita Christian

Thank you for the laughter, thank you for the burnt food, thank you for the music, thank
you for sharing your love of cats and thank you for your life.

Account of Paula Baron's funeral from Patrick Baron

46 people attended Paula's funeral today (Friday 12th January) at the Romaleigh Funeral Home, Northcote, Auckland. Officiated by celebrant Barrie Mason, the emotional service paid tribute to Paula's warmth as a person, as well as her grit, intelligence and determination to deal with life's challenges as they came her way. As a mark of respect, Paula's coffin was carried to the alter by son's Patrick, Richard and Jonathan, together with David Christian and friends Joy & Phyllis, accompanied by the sound of African Storm from Enya (a track specially selected in recognition of the significance to Paula of  the time she spent in Africa in the late 60's).

Covering the front of the chapel was a display of Paula's  possessions which were integral in her life, including her Push bike & helmet,  her Paintings, electronic keyboards & music, toy animals such as "David Dog", and a chair with her pink jacket sitting on it.Tributes were given to Paula by her son's Patrick, Richard,  and from several other people including, Paula's companion David Christian, her longstanding friend Joan Dennis, plus some well received heartwarming words  from Anita Christian.

The service was closed with a final tribute from Paula's second son Richard, who spoke about the good times they had playing music together over the past 2 years, the times spent at the beach  together, and conversations they had over the years. Following the close of the service, Paula's coffin was carried by the same pallbearers out to an awaiting hearse. With the sounds of Amazing Grace being played in the chapel' organ by friend Joy, mourners scattered white rose petals on Paula's coffin. Just before the hearse left Romaleigh, there was an emotional scene involving 2 members of Paula's family who made a final embrace on her coffin. After Paula's hearse drove away,  the majority of attendees enjoyed a light reception provided by the family within the premises of the funeral home.
